Rose Hills Cemetery located in Whittier California
Rose Hills Cemetery located in Whittier, California is a very large cemetery with roaming hills. They are a full service provider that is owned by the SCI corporation. Due to its size and complexity there are many rules and regulations that apply to each gravesite. The cemetery is sectioned off by Gardens with each having strict Headstone requirements on size, color and Material. At Rose Hills Cemetery there is strict and specific delivery work order form that need to be filled out and dates for delivery is strictly enforced.
When shopping online with an out of state supplier you must know all the requirements for the cemetery or your order will be rejected when it arrives. Always work with a local California company to assure your order will met all requirements. Sometimes the allure of a price savings offered by a discount retailer on-line can become a nightmare and most cemeteries are not flexible in changing their requirements to allow outside competitors to enter this market. So Buyer Beware.
After Identifying your Garden and The Proper Gravesite Size
Once you have identified your Garden and got the proper size for your gravesite we can begin the Headstone design. We will procure the approvals, the work order permit and schedule the delivery. Most Headstones require a minimum of 5 weeks for manufacturing and all settings are done by the cemetery. We do deliver to Rose Hills once a month so there may be additional time required depending on when the order is inserted and completed. The customer will be required to pay for the setting fee prior to the delivery of a headstone to Rose Hills, they are the only approved installer for cemetery Headstones.
All design and approvals can be done on line without the customer every visiting our office. We email designs to the family members and make changes on request. Once you are satisfied we then have you sign off on the drawings.
What About Porcelain Cameos?
Porcelain cameos are acceptable at Rose Hills and these need to be Porcelain fired on Steel plates and mounted flush to the face of the headstone. Most cemeteries only accept flush mounted cameos because of ground equipment passing over the tops of the stone avoiding damage from lawnmowers. Again this must be known by your supplier when you purchase the Headstone. We have seen suppliers simply bond the cameo directly on the surface of the granite instead of recessing it flush into the face of the headstone.
We at American Headstones Company offer many variations of steel fired porcelain cameos in B&W or color in various shapes and sizes. Each cameo is priced by size. These porcelain fired cameos are guaranteed for Life from the manufacturer against fading and corrosion.
All Headstones are guaranteed against imperfections such as scratches, chips and flaking. All granite headstones are polished to a mirror finish and will last many years with some minor cleaning on a regular basis. Of course we cannot stop calcium buildup and the white film or haze that is caused by the hard water from cemetery watering.
