Looking for a Headstones Deal Online
There are many offerings for cheap Headstones on the internet today. Companies advertise great prices with free shipping anywhere in the USA. Some Companies mass produce granite headstones using traditional engraving or laser etched designs with color paints that look like works of art.
Buyers are unaware first of all about the cemetery specifications and regulations that they must meet once the stone is delivered. Unless you know the cemetery specifications do not purchase a headstone from a company located miles away based on a DEAL price that’s too good to be true.
Last week we were called by a family in Orange County, Ca. that had purchased a cheap headstones from a New Jersey manufacturer online. The granite marker was a 28x16x3” double marker with a color porcelain cameo. When the stone was received by the cemetery it was immediately rejected due to the porcelain cameo being cemented on the stone and not recessed flush to the top of the marker. The problem with this is the integrity of the glue joint which will lead to loosening of the cameo, the raised photo above the stones surface could cause issues of falling off or being hit by grass cutting equipment and was clearly against the cemetery regulations.
If the family had worked with a local company that understood all the requirements of the cemetery this would have never happened. This will cost the family a new headstone or reworking the stone with the proper cameo inset. This also will require a new cameo to be made due to the damage that will be done during the removal of the existing porcelain cameo.
The true “Deal” is no longer looking attractive. We at American Headstones Company can manufacture our own porcelain cameos and can do on site setting and blasting at a fraction of the cost of removal and reinstallation fees that the customer must pay to the cemeteries when done off site.
